Runners from across Bunbury will soon hit the streets for a worthy cause.
The Bunbury Runners Club will host its annual Santa Run event on Thursday, December 20.
Runners will gather at the Bunbury Recreation Ground at 5.30pm, before kicking off the run at 6pm.
The participants will travel in and around the CBD, enjoying the sights and sounds of Bunbury.
Whilst completing the 2-kilometre run, the runners will be collecting toys to donate to the South West Refuge.
The group will then return to the Bunbury Recreation Ground to celebrate a job well done.
The club will formally donate the toys to the South West Refuge after the event.
This year marks the club’s 10th Santa Run, created to provide support to those in need.
Bunbury Runners Club president Keith Yardley said the club was expecting around 100 participants.
He said the club loved having fun and giving back to the community.
“The run is to cement that we’re a community-minded organisation, and that we work on that principle,” he said.
“It’s not just about running and fitness. We’re all human and we’re working towards creating a social side for the club, as well.
“It’s amazing how many people around Bunbury know about the event.
“This is a way of saying: ‘We do understand what some people are going through and we’re prepared to help’.”
