Tornadoes Black’s women’s side suffered a shock loss in round 11, going down to second-placed Tornadoes Red in their enthralling derby clash.
The dynamic duo of Karinda Farrant (34 points, including eight two-pointers) and Courtney Bayliss (32, eight from behind the three-point line) dominated the game.
Tornadoes Red got the better of Tornadoes Black in the first term, leading by eight at quarter time.
The league leaders struggled to catch up, as Tornadoes Red extended its lead to 19 at the main break.
Tornadoes Red then managed to keep its momentum going throughout the second half.
Winning 88 to 61, Tornadoes Red handed Tornadoes Black its first loss of the season.
Dunsborough remains third following its convincing win over Aces Sky.
Once again, Oilers Adele East (31), Dana East (15), and Beige Harris (15) established themselves as three of the league’s best.
After a tight contest in the first term, Dunsborough piled on the pressure before extending its lead to 18 at half time.
Despite its many talented players, Aces Sky was out-gunned by Dunsborough in the second half.
The Oilers picked up a deserving 75 to 47 win.
Round 11 of the men’s competition saw Bulls claim victory over Tornadoes Black by the slightest of margins.
Thanks to Jason Smith (30) and Nat Van Dijk (18), Tornadoes Black decimated Bulls in the first term.
Bulls Tom Harper (26), Travis Durnin (24), and Cohen Thompson (20) brought their side back from the brink in the second.
The league leaders then took control, clinching a six-point lead at three-quarter time.
Bulls celebrated an 89 to 88 victory following a nail-biting fourth quarter.
Sporting a new look, Eaton was full of confidence ahead of its clash with Dunsborough.
The Oilers ripped through Eaton’s defence, before moving ahead 22 to 10 at quarter time.
Dunsborough dazzled throughout the rest of the game, going on to claim a 75 to 35 win.
Oilers Matt Mansfield (24) and Harry Mooney (16) were formidable around the court.
Tornadoes Red is sitting third after its nine-point win over Aces White.
Michael Lay (26) and Braden Wilson (25) put Tornadoes Red in front early on.
Travis Vogel’s 21-point haul helped Aces White to remain in the contest.
The lead went back and forth in the third term, before Tornadoes Red brought its A-game in the fourth.
Tornadoes Red went on to win 81 to 72.
Teams will return to the court for round 12 on Friday, January 4.
