ECU Souwest Jets’ coaches and managers are searching for the best-of-the-best to represent the club in 2019.
On December 9 and 16, the club held trials to fill its West Australian Netball League, Jets Academy, and Jetstars squads.
Souwest Jets Open head coach Erin Culnane said she was looking for those with skill, determination, and fearlessness.
“As a regionally-based club, we still want to stay true to our roots,” she said.
“We also want to explore the ways in which we can grow off of an already-solid foundation, that we’ve had for the past 20 years.
“We’ve always been about youth, by virtue of having a younger population to choose from.
“We’re looking to consolidate our opportunities to help the younger players become competitive.
“We’re also looking to have some older, more experienced players to provide mentorship on the court.”
The Jets will be the only regional club to compete in next year’s WANL competition.
“I’m looking forward to seeing our players continuing their journeys,” Culnane said.
“We finished fifth last year, probably two wins outside of the top four.
“I would like for us to crack that top four and make the finals.
“We want to build our momentum, and provide a platform for these athletes to continue their journeys.
“Watch this space, because the Jets are ready to take off.”
Selections will be formally announced in January.
