Bunbury’s Megan Roberts has been picked for this year’s Under 18 State Indoor Hockey team.
Under new coaching, Western Australia will take on other state teams at the National Championships in Goulburn, New South Wales from January 13 to 18.
Selected for the second time, Megan was hopeful they would have a strong presence in 2019.
Travelling up to Perth weekly for training and games, she aims to continue learning the skills and game structure required for playing at the highest level.
With indoor hockey strong in European countries such as Germany and Holland, she hopes to one day play against the best.
“Indoor hockey is such a different game to outdoor,” she said.
“It needs a very different skill set, it’s quick, it’s dynamic, and it’s great fun. For anybody who hasn’t played before, I would encourage them to give it a go.”
Megan also plays field hockey in the winter months.
