A 32-year-old man has admitted to doing burnouts before attempting to escape from police.
Casey Bowen Morgan faced Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday, December 6.
Mr Morgan pleaded guilty to damaging property, driving and failing to comply with a direction to stop, using a vehicle that did not comply with Vehicle Standards Regulations, exceeding 0.08 grams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, driving with a suspended licence, reckless driving, and using an unlicenced vehicle.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Karl Rep told the court officers responded to a complaint in Dalyellup about 12.25am on Wednesday, October 3.
Morgan was spotted by police conducting burnouts while driving a Ford Falcon.
While being pursued by police, Morgan travelled on the incorrect side of the road, and narrowly avoided a parked car, before coming to a stop.
Shortly after the chase, a breath test registered 0.142g of alcohol per 100ml of blood.
Police found the Ford Falcon had been modified to perform burnouts.
The modifications and Mr Morgan’s driving had caused damage to the road.
Mr Morgan had twice faced reckless driving charges prior to the incident.
His Lawyer, Michael Joubert, said Mr Morgan worked part time while taking care of his partner and his two children (aged seven and nine).
The court heard Mr Morgan’s partner was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, cancer, and bi-polar disorder.
Mr Joubert said his client accepted responsibility and had taken steps to combat his problems with alcohol.
The defence added Mr Morgan was trying to “get his life back on track”.
Magistrate Evan Shackleton said it was “ridiculous” that Mr Morgan had not learned from his mistakes.
Mr Shackleton called for a pre-sentence report and renewed Mr Morgan’s bail on the same terms.
The case was remanded to Friday, January 11 for sentencing.
