Rider Chris Parnham led Test of Strength ($12) to victory on Bunbury Football Club Race Day.
Punters flocked to Bunbury Turf Club to have some fun during the public holiday on Monday, January 28.
The $16,500 Sh8re Maiden saw Test of Strength compete against a solid field of eight over 2038 metres.
After exiting the barrier, Parnham and the bay gelding settled in third before falling back to fifth at the 800m mark.
Daniel Staeck and Oathkeeper were in front at the final turn and looked set to claim victory.
Test of Strength moved from fourth to first on the home straight, finishing half-a-length ahead of race favourite Wild Galah.
The result saw Parnham collect a double.
Rider William Pike produced a terrific performance in the feature event, the $19,000 Infinite Energy Handicap.
He and race favourite New Age ($2.25) settled in fourth, before Danefin took the lead.
Moving up from third to first, New Age beat out second-placed Bucktorio by a long head.
In the 1116m Park Tavern Maiden, race favourite Lakeview and Star ($1.40) led from the barrier and never looked back.
The bay gelding held off Indian Chant to take the win.
Racing over 1216m, rider Steven Parnham and Friar’s Classic ($12) claimed the Eastman and Co. Accountants Maiden.
In a nail-biting showdown, bay mare Friar’s Classic crossed a neck ahead of Ping Me Another.
Adam Durrant-trained Stairwaytothemoon secured the BOQ Bunbury Handicap, finishing two lengths ahead of Tortina and Stafford’s Lad.
Pike earned his fourth win of the day in the $19,000 Bunbury Subaru Handicap.
Bay gelding King of Judah crossed three-quarters-of-a-length in front of Tribute to Glory.
The Bunbury Turf Club will hold its next race meeting on Sunday, February 3.
This year’s Amelia Park Bunbury Stakes Day will be held on Wednesday, March 6.
The XXXX Gold Bunbury Cup will then take place on Sunday, March 10.
