The Western Australian Government is adamant the Future Battery Industry Strategy, announced last week, will create new jobs for the region.
The government will implement the development of an investment attraction strategy, designed to strengthen relationships with investors and manufacturers in global battery and electric vehicle supply chains.
The strategy was designed to help the state become a “world-leading exporter of future battery minerals, materials, technologies and expertise”.
“Our Future Battery Industry Strategy will drive the development of the WA battery materials industry that will create local jobs, contribute to skills development and economic diversification, and maximise benefits to regional communities,” Premier Mark McGowan said.
The Future Battery Industry Ministerial Taskforce has engaged with government, industry, research organisations, and the community.
“I hope to see Bunbury and the South West region leading the way in innovation and advanced manufacturing, and the Future Battery Industry Strategy provides a framework that can help us do just that,” Bunbury MLA Don Punch said.
