Yet another Australian middle distance runner has signed up for the Qube Mile in the $78,000 WesTrac Bunbury-Geographe Gift 2019.
Western Australian athlete Matt Ramsden will visit the South West for this year’s Gift, taking place on March 2 and 3 at Bunbury Recreation Ground.
Fellow national athletes Jordan Williamzs and Sarah Billings will also be competing in the Qube Mile.
The trio will join Olympians Ryan Gregson and Genevieve Gregson in Bunbury for next month’s event.
The men’s and women’s Qube Mile winners will each receive $5000, thanks to Qube Ports and Bulk.
In the Qube Mile, competitors are given a handicap based on their previous efforts.
Ramsden said the WesTrac Bunbury-Geographe Gift provided a boost for WA athletes.
“[It] means a lot to the WA boys who have to travel so far to get their hands on a bit of prize money," he said.
"High prize races not only give great competition, but create opportunities for locals to travel and run in bigger meets overseas."
