Bunbury Water Polo’s women and junior players hit the water for the 2019 Tri-Series Tournament on Sunday, February 17.
The women’s team was confident going into its showdown with Perth Phantoms at the South West Sports Centre.
After a high-scoring fourth term, Bunbury claimed an 8 to 4 victory.
Anthea Brown top-scored for Bunbury with three goals.
The home side then went up against Peel in game two.
Bunbury’s Zoe Rowcroft landed three goals in the side’s 11 to 7 result.
Game three saw Perth take on Peel in a thrilling clash.
Delivering a stunning performance in the third term, the Phantoms went on to secure a 10 to 5 win.
Bunbury and Peel’s juniors later participated in a friendly showdown.
Bunbury Water Polo secretary, and women’s team manager, Tegan Marley said she was proud of the teams for their efforts.
“This gives the women a chance to play against one another, in the lead-up to the Country Championships,” she said.
“Bunbury has quite a strong team this year. We’ve had a lot of new female players sign up this year, which has been really good.
“We will soon be getting ready for next month’s competition.”
Busselton Water Polo will host this year’s Western Australian Country Championships in March.
Teams from all over the state will travel to Bunbury for the 2019 Masters Water Polo Tournament on Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9.
