Shire of Harvey president Tania Jackson will remain in the top job, after a motion calling for a no confidence vote was voted down last week.
In January, Shire of Harvey resident Brian Hanson submitted a petition, featuring 139 signatures, asking for council to consider a vote of no confidence in Ms Jackson.
As a result council hosted a special electors meeting on Tuesday, February 12.
During the meeting, Mr Hanson said the motion was not developed with the Bunbury Outer Ring Road in mind.
Mr Hanson stated that the motion was created to address Ms Jackson’s behaviour.
He revealed the signatures were collected from people in Leschenault, Australind, Roelands, Harvey, Yarloop, and Brunswick.
Community members and councillors were then called upon to express their views regarding the motion.
Councillors Bill Adams and Craig Carbone voiced their support for Ms Jackson as shire president.
The motion was lost, with 24 people voting for it and 37 voting against.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Ms Jackson thanked the council and community for their support.
“Many people in the room felt that there was an issue. However, many of them discussed personal issues relating to specific subjects,” she said.
“The people that spoke on my behalf talked about my role, my professionalism, and my commitment to council. I am very glad that that was put out there.
“We often have informal discussions about how we manage question time, presentations, and deputations.
“We have been trying to adapt to the issues which are in the public interest, and we will continue to do that.”
The Shire president encouraged community members to cast their votes at the next Local Government elections, due to be held later this year.
“Working for your local government is really rewarding – you can do some great things in your community, through this process,” Ms Jackson said.
