Bunbury youth precinct one step closer with location approved
Progress on Bunbury's youth precinct is one step closer following last week's City of Bunbury council decision to approve Luciana Park as the preferred site.
Following extensive community consultation and site analysis, a portion of the area - located along the Leschenault Inlet across from the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre – was endorsed as the most appropriate location.
The City of Bunbury along with the Bunbury Youth Advisory Council is now calling on the community for feedback on the chosen site in the form of an online survey, before moving ahead in deciding what will be in the precinct.
City of Bunbury Youth deputy mayor Cassidy McGuire thanked the community for its help in selecting the site.
“This is a significant project for Bunbury and our young people,” she said.
“The Youth Advisory Council has put in a lot of time and effort in ensuring the views of the community were being captured and we want to make sure we get the site selection right.
“I encourage everyone to get behind this project and have their say.”
Youth and activation community partnerships officer Danika Wellington said the project was tracking along well with results from the survey to be presented to council for a final decision on April 16.
"It is great to see Bunbury’s Youth Advisory Council leading the way with this project," she said.
"Being appointed as the steering committee for the Youth Precinct offers these young people the opportunity to make their mark.
"The final design will be developed based on what community members, particularly young people, want to see at the precinct."
The community is invited to complete an online survey via the City’s community engagement portal Social Pinpoint before Friday, March 22.
Once feedback has been received a report will be presented to City of Bunbuty Council.
