The Disabled Surfers Association South West Branch will host its last 'Let's go surfing' day of the summer this weekend.
For participants and beach lovers Josh Yates and Jarvis Gibbons, it is an event not to be missed.
Josh has attended 'quite a lot' of surf days, and is getting close to being able to stand on the board.
Jarvis is also a regular at the Bunker Bay event.
The Mail caught up with Josh and Jarvis over the long weekend at Meelup Beach.
Josh had been enjoying a day out with girlfriend Genevieve Day, while Jarvis was having another dip after spending the morning at the beaches in Yallingup.
They shared with the Mail what they loved most about the Disabled Surfers Association events.
"It is very freeing, surfing," Josh said.
"I love that freedom."
"I like the waves, being on the board and meeting new people - and the sausage in the bun at the end," Jarvis added.
The pair also said they loved the presentation component of the day, where participants found out who won awards for their surfing efforts.
The awards include Most Improved, Best Wave of the Day, and the sought after Best Wipe Out.
Disabled Surfers Association is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to give people with varying disabilities the opportunity to have a safe, happy and dignified surfing experience.
The final event will be held on Saturday, March 9, at the Farm Break Lane end of Bunker Bay from 9am.
Newcomers and volunteers are welcome.
