Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School recently launched its Medical and Allied Health Pathway Program.
The program aims to support senior secondary students aspiring to a career in the medical or allied health professions.
To celebrate the programs’ launch, five local health professionals met with prospective student participants to share their own professional experiences.
They included optometry student Hannah Jackson, physiotherapist Sean Cowan, cardiologist Allison Morton, general practitioner Rachel Jackson and nurse Mauretta Johnston.
Over thirty five health professionals, from a diverse range of professions have registered as mentors in the program, to work with students.
Mr Cowan said he was excited to be taking part in the program.
"I'm looking forward to meeting some aspiring, young health care professionals and helping them on their journey," he said.
Ms Jackson said she was excited to be a mentor and to be able to help students open their eyes to greaty variety of health care professions available.
Student participants in the program will have the opportunity to participate in skills sessions to develop practical competencies, excursions to medical institutions, specialist guest speaker workshops, mentoring partnerships, residential experiences and receive support and guidance for applications and career pathway planning.
