Indie alt-pop group Joan and the Giants is gaining momentum ahead of its new tour.
The band will visit the Prince of Wales Hotel for one performance on Thursday, April 4, as part of its first ever regional tour.
Forming earlier this year, the group - with frontwoman/songwriter Grace Newton-Wordsworth, vocalist/songwriter Aaron Birch, and drummer Riley Sutton - is excited to kick things off with a bang.
"I have been wanting to play at the Prince for ages, because a lot of Perth artists go there and play," Newton-Wordsworth said.
"Whenever an audience connects with our songs and lyrics, a pure feeling of joy and ecstasy comes flooding in."
The tour will celebrate the band's newly-released single, Hold Me.
"We had a few songs to choose from," Newton-Wordsworth said.
"We wrote it about two years ago, as a folk song. It was always in the back of my mind because I knew it was a really powerful song.
"When it came to changing our name and pursuing this alt-pop sound, I knew that Hold Me was such a powerful track.
"We knew we could layer it with synths and turn it into a really mature track that could connect with others."
Set to release another single in April and an EP in May, the band has plenty to look forward to.
In June, the group will hit the road for its first ever major city tour of Australia.
