John Paul Young is paying homage to two of the Australian music industry's greatest talents.
Heading to the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre, John Paul Young and the All Star Band will entertain fans with their new show - The Vanda and Young Songbook - on Friday, March 22 at 8pm.
The show will honour two of Australia's best songwriters, Harry Vanda and George Young.
Writing hits for The Easybeats, AC/DC, Grace Jones and many others, Vanda and Young took Australian music to new heights during the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.
Taking a trip down memory lane, John Paul Young will share behind-the-scenes stories about some of the biggest songs of the 20th century.
Young described it as a more personal affair, compared to his previous tours.
"This is more of a sit-down thing. With people sitting down, you get the opportunity to be able to talk to them," he said.
"You live for acceptance, I suppose. It's great to see people enjoying themselves and really having a great time.
"Most nights when we do this show, we receive standing ovations. That has never, ever happened in my lifetime before.
"It's an across-the-board acceptance, and it feels great.
"I have got some stories that I've collected over the years. I am doing songs that weren't hits for me, along with the songs that were hits for me.
"There are some very strong pop songs from the pen of George Young and Harry Vanda."
Having sold over 4 million albums worldwide and being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2009, John Paul Young is no stranger to success.
In 2012, he received an Order of Australia Medal for his services to charity and the arts.
The musician credits Vanda and Young for supporting him throughout his career.
"They worked hard at it and succeeded, they deserved everything they got," he said.
"They had a radar that identified what the public wanted. They were very good and they were also very prolific.
"They wrote hundreds of songs. Somewhere along the line you've got to hit the jackpot, and they certainly did."
