A Glen Iris man faced Bunbury Magistrates Court last week over a string of offences committed between July and August last year.
Attending court on Thursday, March 14, Troy Jones, 27, pleaded guilty to two counts of driving without a licence, one of breaching bail (failing to appear), one of breaching protective bail conditions, one of driving while under the influence of alcohol, one of common assault in circumstances of aggravation/racial aggravation, and one of obstructing police officers.
Police prosecutor sergeant Greg Ward told the court police attended Jones's Glen Iris residence on July 18, 2018.
Officers found Jones having an argument with his partner.
After being ordered to leave the premises, Jones began yelling and pointing a finger gun at the officers. He then fell onto the ground twice whilst being apprehended.
On a different date, police saw Jones driving on Forrest Highway as an unaccompanied L-Plater.
On August 25, Jones was seen driving along Paris Road, Australind. A breath test measured 0.119 grams of alcohol.
On a separate occasion, Jones returned to his home address in an intoxicated state. After committing a lewd act, he was confronted by his partner.
Jones then kicked her in the upper thigh area.
Jones breached his protective bail conditions by returning to the premises on Friday, August 31.
Defence counsel Viv Blurton confirmed that Jones was intoxicated whilst committing the majority of the offences.
The court heard Jones had turned to alcohol after losing his job at Coles.
Mr Blurton revealed his client had taken steps to address his issues and cease his alcohol consumption.
The defence said Jones, after committing the aforementioned offences, felt shame and embarrassment.
Magistrate David Maclean took the seriousness of the offences and Jones's personal circumstances into consideration.
Jones was fined $800 and given an eight-month licence disqualification. Mr Maclean also handed down a $5000 fine, suspended for nine months.
