The South West Slammers' men's side was no match for the Geraldton Buccaneers in round two.
Travelling up the coast for Saturday's showdown, the Slammers were eager to come away with their first win of 2019.
The Buccaneers, however, showed no mercy, with five of their 12 players reaching double figures in front of a spirited home crowd.
Solid efforts from Willie Conner (16 points) gifted Geraldton with a strong lead in the opening term, before the Slammers clawed their way back.
Sharp shooting from captain Michael Lay and import Tyler Livingston (7) saw the visitors level the scores, 18-all, at quarter time.
The second term belonged to Geraldton. Aaron Ralph (15) caught the Slammers off-guard, while Dylan Myers (12) made the most of his time on the court.
Ahead 55 to 32 lead at the main break, the Buccaneers continued their energetic style of play in the second half.
A spell from Liam Hunt (running away with a double-double - 15 points, 10 total rebounds) helped Geraldton to a 40-point lead at three-quarter time.
As the Slammers slowed down, the Buccaneers launched into overdrive.
Shooting 24 to 14 in the final term, the home side earned a commanding 105 to 55 victory.
The Slammers men's and women's teams will return to Eaton Recreation Centre for round three this Saturday.
