XXXX Gold Bunbury Cup winners Burger Time and Clint Johnston-Porter suffered a nasty fall during the running of the $100,000 Bull and Bush Tavern Cup on Sunday afternoon.
St John Ambulance crews and trackside personnel rushed to the scene, after the bay gelding and the rider fell at the final turn.
Burger Time was able to stand up and gallop down the home straight. Johnston-Porter was assessed before being rushed to Bunbury Hospital and kept there overnight.
The rider was discharged on Monday morning, suffering only bruising and soreness.
A veterinary clearance is required before Burger Time can trial or race again.
During the race, rider Lucy Warwick and Elegant Blast leapt from the barrier and remained in front past the 800-metre mark.
Spurred on by the crowd, Prying Tom took the lead close to the turn.
At the end of a thrilling race over 2219m, chestnut gelding He's A Parker ($5.50) and rider Chris Parnham finished three-quarters-of-a-length in front of Come Play With Me.
"We'll have to come back again next year and win another cup," He's A Parker trainer Hec McLaren said during the presentation.
Parnham picked up a treble after leading You Am I ($13) to victory in the 1690m BVA Metal Fabrications Handicap.
The chestnut gelding settled in sixth and held his position past the 800m mark. In first place at the final turn, You Am I went on to beat out Patchirac by a head.
Rider Jason Whiting and Pretty Style ($5) took out the opening event - the 1008m Michael Lane Racing Maiden.
Trainers Daniel and Ben Pearce were all smiles after Starof Bonnie Rose ($17), and rider Joseph Azzopardi, clinched a surprise victory in the BVA Metal Fabrications Maiden.
Rider Lucy Warwick and Justin Warwick-trained Pure Magnus ($4.40) claimed a decisive win in the 1410m Capel Tavern Handicap, ahead of second-placed Flower of Scotland.
The 3yo+ Ceiling Works Australia Handicap saw bay gelding/race favourite Leading Man ($2.15) edge out Heavenly Affair by a long head.
Sura Handicap winner Fa'lion Maschine ($4.40) stormed home to secure the David Jones Memorial Handicap.
In fifth spot at the turn, the bay mare thundered down the straight to finished one-and-three-quarter lengths ahead of Dynabelle.
The result saw Whiting collect a double.
