A movie fundraiser will be held on Wednesday in a bid to raise funds and awareness for Conquer Cystic Fibrosis.
Directed by Justin Baldoni, Five Feet Apart gives a rare glimpse into the lives of young people with the disease through the eyes of Stella (Haley Lu Richardson) and Will (Cole Sprouse).
The screening will be held at Grand Cinemas Bunbury and has been organised by Brooke McKitterick in support of her friend and Conquer Cystic Fibrosis South West coordinator Taryn Barrett.
Mrs Barrett's youngest son Connor has Cystic Fibrosis.
"This movie looks incredibly sad but the message behind it is quite poignant," she said.
"I also see it as a wonderful opportunity for the Cystic Fibrosis community internationally to increase awareness of why the research efforts need further support.
"The life expectancy for someone with Cystic Fibrosis in Australia is still just 37, and while there's been some great advancements, there is still no cure and no end in sight for the relentless daily treatments."
While Five Feet Apart is not strictly based on a true story, it was inspired by the experiences of those who have the disease, more than 3300 of which live in Australia.
Both Stella and Will have cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease which primarily impacts the lungs and digestive system.
The disease causes a build up of thick mucus in the body's organs which traps bacteria, resulting in severe lung damage and difficulty digesting food.
By coming in close proximity, Stella and Will risk infecting each other with possibly fatal bacteria.
Stella's character was based on Claire Wineland, an extraordinary young CF advocate known for her candid videos about life with the disease.
The movie is dedicated to Ms Wineland who passed away late last year, aged 21.
Tickets are $25 which includes a glass of sparkling on arrival and nibbles.
The event starts at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm viewing.
