Bunbury golfer Taylah Hall was accepted into a special school-based traineeship with Manea Senior College earlier this year.
The Sport Career Oriented Participation program sees the 15-year-old hit the course two days per week.
The traineeship is helping Taylah to improve her technique and expand her knowledge of the sport.
Taylah will need to reach a handicap of six to move up to the next level - a PGA Trainee Program.
"At first, golf gave me a break from everything else going on. As I got better, it helped me to build up my confidence," she said.
"I am now looking forward to my next trainee program, after Year 12."
Since 2014, golf professional and coach Shani Waugh has been helping Taylah to become a highly-skilled, disciplined golfer.
"Taylah's assignments are helping her to understand all of the little things about golf," Waugh said.
"It's unlocking some really important stuff and improving her understanding of the sport.
"In addition, the program has given me some clarity about how to best coach Taylah."
Waugh and fellow PGA professional Kate Goddard are shepherding the 'Impact' program, assisting committed juniors golfers in the region.
"There are very few golfers aged between 15 and 55," she said.
"With golfers like Taylah coming through, we need to make sure we can provide every part of the pathway.
"We're trying to establish a pathway for kids, set up events, and support the clubs that don't have professionals on-deck."
