Esperance-based author Fleur McDonald will be heading to Capel next week to celebrate the release of her latest offering Without a Doubt.
The free author talk will take place at the Capel Library from 6pm on Monday, May 6.
The story sees Detective Dave Burrows search for the link between a murdered man and illegal stock trading.
Ms McDonald described the book as "hard-hitting" and different to anything she had written before.
"It is quite heavy on the crime side of things," she said.
"It's the second in the Dave Burrows series and is across three states.
"I had a lot of fun writing it and it's actually what I like to write all the time."
The novel is Ms McDonald's 13th book, with the author having sold more than 500,000 books.
"Dave has been around with me for the past 10 years since my first book Red Dust - I know him very well so it's really easy to write about him, it's like catching up with an old friend," she said.
Ms McDonald has been writing for as long as she can remember from creative stories in primary school to romantic poetry in high school and to her books today.
She said she looking forward to the author talk where people would be able to purchase copies of the book and have them signed and have a chat.
"I'm keen to get to the smaller country towns that don't get the opportunity to have writers come and talk to them so I called it the Grassroots Tour," she said.
"I write about what I know and I think that makes my books authentic, I come from a very long line of story-tellers so I know how to spin a yarn.
"I've got lots of funny and interesting stories about detectives and crime to share with people."
Although Without a Doubt has only just hit shelves but the author is already working on her next book, which is due to come out in November.
Bookings are essential.
