Students at Bunbury Primary Schools and hundreds more across Australia will take it in their stride in celebration of national Walk Safely to School Day on Friday, May 17.
The event is now in its twentieth year and encourages students to walk to school to promote regular exercise whilst also providing families with an opportunity to talk and learn more about road safety.
Bunbury Primary School associate principal Franca Dillon said the day helped to reinforce important messages around road safety and made students more aware.
"Our students, staff and family are big supporters of the event, and all the kids who walk get a sticker on the day," she said.
"At our school especially they've got to be aware of their surroundings because we're in a residential area and we don't have a crosswalk so the kids have to be very careful.
"It's really about supporting the community and what everyone is trying to do with Road Safety Week and getting those messages across."
