The Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre will play host to the West Australian premiere of The Humours of Bandon from multi-award winning Irish theatre company Fishamble on May 29.
Developed as part of an artist development initiative at Dublin Fringe Festival, The Humours of Bandon is a coming of age story, full of heart, humour and wisdom.
The one-woman play will thrust the audience into the competitive world of Irish Dance where they'll meet 16-year-old Annie on the eve of the Irish Open championship.
BREC executive director Fiona de Garis said it was an exceptional play that they were excited to bring to the South-West.
"We see hundreds of people come to BREC every year to watch Irish dance and this is a wonderful opportunity for them to see what really happens behind the curtain," she said.
The play is a personal story from Margaret McAuliffe, who after spending 18 years in competitive Irish dance made the switch to theatre.
"I could not have envisaged so early on that my Irish dancing hobby would lead me to touring in Australia," she said.
