The South West Phoenix Firebirds made it four wins from four matches with a comfortable 4-1 victory at Curtin University on Sunday.
After a slow start which saw the Firebirds fall behind, they quickly rebounded to move up to second on the ladder.
With a mounting absentee list, the Firebirds were happy to welcome back 2018 leading scorer Eleanor Coventry to the squad.
But Coventry started on the bench, as captain Lucy Scott and Nicole Suttie looked to build on their dominant performance against UWA two weeks ago.
The Firebirds started poorly and found themselves a goal down within ten minutes. They failed to deal with a cross, after some good work down the right, from Curtin.
Scott almost equalised within sixty seconds, but was thwarted by Curtin's goalkeeper. Scott, however, didn't have to wait too much longer to pull the Firebirds level.
Suttie unleashed a blistering shot from 20 yards which cannoned off the cross bar, and it was Scott who reacted first to bundle the ball into the net and get her side back on level terms.
Scott had a good battle with Curtin's defence throughout, and, on another day, could have come away with a hat-trick. Instead, she endured a few narrow misses.
Five minutes after the equaliser, a similar Firebirds' move again ended with Suttie firing a vicious shot from 20 yards. This time, it sailed just under the bar for a spectacular goal to put the Firebirds ahead.
The side was growing in confidence and looking sharper. They soon added a third goal with a sweeping move from one end to the other, without a Curtin player touching it.
Goalkeeper Dayle Schroeder passed to Asha McClurg, who found Katie McDermott.
She exchanged a neat one-two with Jordan Sheedy and was then able to carry the ball, cut in, and fire past the keeper to make it 3-1 just before half time.
The Firebirds came out in the second half looking for the killer fourth goal, and found it within ten minutes when Shauna Wetherell's long range effort went in via a deflection.
The remainder of the match meandered along with a lot of huffing and puffing, but lacking quality from both sides.
An ordinary playing surface didn't assist either side, and the Firebirds were happy to bank the three points.
Firebirds now have the long weekend off before a tough trip to sixth-placed Fremantle City.
