The Shire of Capel is inviting all community members to celebrate the Boyanup Heritage Trail's official opening.
In partnership with Lotterywest, the shire will open the trail at 10am on Wednesday, June 19.
The event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by morning tea at High Kilpatrick Hall.
Winding through Boyanup, the trail includes the Joshua Brook Circuit and the Preston River Ramble.
Following its master plan, the shire revamped the old in-town trail and acknowledged the region's heritage.
Shire chief executive officer Ian McCabe urged South-West residents to take part in the experience.
"The Boyanup Heritage Trail creates connections between parks, town facilities and other community focal points," he said.
"The Trail will provide the community and tourists with an opportunity to learn about Boyanup's rich history.
"The Boyanup Heritage Trail creates a link of easily walkable trails in Boyanup. We hope the trail will encourage people to visit Boyanup and learn about its history.
"We'd like to encourage the community to get out and explore all that the Shire of Capel has to offer."
The shire thanked Lotterywest for providing 50 per cent of the funding.
The shire's Trails Management Group has its sights set on the Ironstone Gully Falls Trail Design and Development Project.
