Adele East (24 points, six assists) was the one to watch - sinking 8/9 free-throws and 80 per cent of her two-point attempts.
Thanks to Matilda Muir (26) and Alina Hartmann (19 points, 11 rebounds), Cockburn recovered in the second term.
Both teams drew level (45-all) at half time, before Makailah Dyer (11 points, 10 assists) and the Slammers claimed a one-point lead at the final change.
The game went into overtime after both sides posted 83 points each.
Following their tight 99 to 93 win, the Slammers are now tenth on the ladder.
The Slammers men's side was outclassed and outgunned by Cockburn in Round 15.

Captain Gavin Field (30 points, 10 rebounds), Jaarod Holmes (20), and Jakob Knight (17) put the Cougars in front by one at half time.
Both teams produced quality basketball in the third term, before the Cougars nabbed a four-point lead at the final change.
Landing 24 to 14 in the fourth term, Cockburn celebrated a 91 to 77 win.

Holding off a late Goldfields charge, the Slammers secured their first win of the season with a 79 to 74 result.
