South Regional TAFE recently held the first round of the regional WorldSkills competition, providing students with the opportunity to showcase their talents and win a chance to represent Australia on the global stage.
Eight competitions were held on the day with more than 50 students from across the South-West competing in a number of industries including hairdressing, hospitality, cookery and construction.
South Regional TAFE training manager and WorldSkills organiser Anita Host said the regional competition gave students the opportunity to go and compete in team WA and then team Australia.
"We're opening those doors for our students," she said.
"The experience is fantastic because the projects are written by industry professionals and experts.
"Putting their skills to the test in a timed situation."
Ms Host said the students had performed really well with plenty of positive feedback.
Another regional round will be held in September and presentations will happen in Perth in November.
