A generous donation is giving South-West families impacted by Cystic Fibrosis hope for a better future.
Brunswick Junction Lions Club president Andy Dalton presented a $10,000 cheque to Conquer Cystic Fibrosis South-West in Bunbury last week.
He did so in honour of a young Busselton woman, Jackie Fraser, who is facing a double lung transplant in the near future.
Ms Fraser is currently in Broome on honeymoon with her husband Aidan Fraser.
She will return to Perth in three weeks for hospitalisation and to reconsider if it is time to be placed on the transplant list.
The couple had hoped to spend 12 months travelling Australia but had to cut it short due to Ms Fraser's deteriorating health.
She has been sharing her story on social media which inspired the club to make the donation.
The cheque was presented to three-year-old Bunbury boy Connor Barrett who also has the disease.
His parents, Taryn and Adrian Barrett, started the South-West chapter of the volunteer-run charity in 2016.
"It is an incredibly generous donation and there wasn't a dry eye in the room when Jackie came up on the video link from Broome," Mrs Barrett said.
"No matter how huge Jackie's battle is, she has this extraordinary ability to smile and inspire others, all while raising Cystic Fibrosis research funds and awareness to sign up as an organ donor.
"She has clearly made a lasting impact on the Brunswick Junction Lions Club members and we are so grateful they have chosen our charity to support."
