The South West Strikers have experienced many ups and downs throughout this year's Hockey WA: Promotion One - Women's season.
The Strikers travelled to Collie for their blockbuster showdown with Whitford on Saturday, June 29.
During their last trip to Collie back in April, the Strikers claimed an easy win over Rockingham.
Round 13, however, saw Whitford take control and put four unanswered goals past the home side.
Sarah Kaesler hit the scoreboard twice, while Tahlia Martin and Jacinta Coulin scored one each.
"We went up against a great side, who were well organised and played very well," Strikers coach Lawrie Taylor said.
"If we want to compete with the top teams in the competition, then we need to pick ourselves up."
The side retained fifth spot on the ladder, despite suffering a 1-4 away loss to league leaders Southern River in Round 14.
Following their Round 15 bye, the Strikers will return to Bunbury for their highly-anticipated clash with Fremantle on July 28.
In Round Seven of the South West Hockey League - Men's division, league leaders Boyanup breezed past Exies 7-1 before Marist secured a commanding 4-1 win over Associates.
Following a tough 0-4 defeat to Exies in Round Six, Towns/South lost to Wests 1-3.
Round 12 of the Women's competition saw Associates destroy Exies 5-0 and Capel upset Marist 1-0.
