Two of the South-West region's best performing bricklaying apprentices picked up medals in last month's Worldskills Regional Competition.
Second year bricklaying apprentices Connor Murphy and Michael Buys took away gold and bronze medals respectively.
Mr Murphy said learning the skills of his trade had been challenging at times, but extremely rewarding.
"I've spent the last few years really knuckling down to become the best bricklayer I can be when I graduate," he said.
"It's an accomplishment to get a gold medal and it goes to show that hard work pays off."
Both bricklayers are completing their apprenticeships through ABN Training.
ABN Group managing director Dale Alcock said the apprentices should be commended for their hard work.
"Apprentices such as Connor and Michael will become gold-class tradespeople," he said.
"It's the reason why we invest so heavily in training the future generation, because our industry relies on access to the best quality tradespeople."
Mr Murphy may now be selected to compete in the Worldskills Australia National competition held mid next year.
