The Shire of Capel and local community members recently rolled their sleeves for a worthy cause.
Gelorup community member Jeff McDougall recently painted a tree blue to raise awareness of the importance of mental health.
Shire and community representatives came together to unveil the tree at the brigade's end of season barbecue last month.
Shire president Murray Scott and chief executive Ian McCabe said they were supportive of "mental health initiatives and community connectedness".
"Jeff McDougall is a valued community member. He gave this tree a new lease of life and was the driving force behind this campaign.
"The aim of painting the tree blue is to spread the message that it's okay not to be okay, and the Shire of Capel is happy to support that sentiment.
"This is an extremely important community campaign. Suicide prevention is still a taboo topic and all of us need to encourage the community to band together and say it's ok not to be ok and that you can talk."
Multiple blue trees can be located across the South-West.
