Bournemouth have beaten South Coast rivals Southampton away for the first time in their history, winning 3-1 in the English Premier League.
First-half goals by Nathan Ake and Harry Wilson gave Bournemouth a 2-0 lead on Friday night, with the visitors also having a penalty decision overturned by the video assistant referee because of an offside.
Southampton improved after halftime and pulled a goal back through James Ward-Prowse's 53rd-minute penalty, awarded after Che Adams was brought down by Steve Cook.
Bournemouth resisted late pressure from Southampton and a defensive mix-up between defender Jan Bednarek and goalkeeper Angus Gunn allowed Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson to walk the ball into the net in injury time and seal victory.
"It was a nice moment," Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said of the win.
"We rarely get those moments in football where you get that pure emotion and joy for a few seconds. Then you start thinking about next week.
Howe said he felt his side were only "okay" in the first half.
"We didn't hit the heights we are capable of," he said.
"We were scrappy and didn't keep the ball as well as I wanted but we had spirit and sometimes that's the most important thing.
"In the second half, we were reactive and looked tired and that's where we needed to show our heart to see the game out. There were some heroics from our goalkeeper too."
Bournemouth move onto 10 points, level with second-place Manchester City.
It was the first game in the sixth round of the Premier League.
Bournemouth had previously drawn six and lost nine of the 15 games played away against Southampton in all competitions.
