Australind resident Minh Ta-Murton is working around the clock in the lead up to next week's Harvey Shire Council election.
Migrating to Australind 30 years ago, she got married, raised a family, and started her own business.
Last month saw Ms Ta-Murton and 10 other candidates proudly submit their nominations to run for council.
"I am calling upon all residents and ratepayers to get involved and vote for me in this coming election," Ms Ta-Murton said.
If elected, Ms Ta-Murton will fight to protect the shire, the ratepayers, and the environment.
She would also like to establish a new Place Advisory Group to assist the Australind community.
"Being a parent, I can identify the importance and the benefits of having children doing activities safely," she said.
"Having facilities that are inviting and interactive - encouraging families and the community to grow together - is something to strive for.
"To continue to maintain our beautiful environment and lifestyle, we need to balance development with nature through diligent planning, management, and strategies for the future."
