South West Phoenix's U13s - Division Two side claims 2019 NPL WA title

South West Phoenix's Under-13s - Division Two side entertained Inglewood FC last month.

Setting up a familiar 4-2-3-1 formation, Phoenix got the ball out wide and then in behind the full back. They then whipped the ball into the box, and to the on-running attackers.

Phoenix had numerous chances throughout the first half, but could not break the deadlock.

Inglewood were superb on the counter and kept possession well, stretching Phoenix a few times and getting in behind.

Some magical goalkeeping prevented Phoenix from being 1-0 down at half time.

The second half continued as the first finished, with both teams having chances but failing to convert.

With the game looking set for a draw, Phoenix had one final throw of the dice.

Inglewood's attack broke down, before Phoenix re-gained possession and moved down the field.

After crossing the ball into the box, a perfect header saw Phoenix claim a 1-0 lead.

With just a minute to play, there was no time for Inglewood to hit back.

Phoenix secured another three points and the championship title.

The squad wrapped up its season with a 2-0 win over Murdoch University Melville and a 1-2 defeat to Balcatta FC.

Phoenix's U14s - Division Two side finished second on the ladder with five wins, two draws, and three losses from 10 rounds.

The U15s - Division Three side earned the championship title, while the U16s - Division Three team finished second behind Balcatta.
