A 26-year-old man has received a Community Based Order over an incident in Stratham from earlier this year.
Returning to Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 3, Aaron John Laing admitted to two counts of criminal damage/destruction of property.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Darren Clifton told the court Laing and a co-accused caused significant damage to multiple road signs, belonging to the Shire of Capel, on Tuesday, March 12. The damages totalled $4,367.56.
The pair also damaged two road signs belonging to Main Roads WA.
Laing's lawyer described the incident as a "couple of mates being idiots".
The 26-year-old is currently unemployed with a child on the way. He was recently referred to a psychologist.
Magistrate Evan Shackleton said Laing was "too old to be committing this kind of offence".
Mr Shackleton took Laing's criminal record and personal circumstances into account while handing down his sentence.
Laing's Community Based Order includes community work and supervision requirements.
