More than 15,000 people have taken to the Dardanup town site to celebrate the 2019 Livelighter Dardanup Bull & Barrel Festival on Saturday, October 12, believed to be the largest number of attendees on record.
The theme of this year's festival was 'The Timber Industry, Now and Then', showcasing the history of the industry and its role in the local economy.
Festival committee chairperson Jill Cross said the committee felt that this year's festival drew a larger crowd than it had done in previous years, with stallholders running out of food and trade up overall.
Mrs Cross said being able to showcase the history of the town's timber industry was a highlight, with historical displays from Wellington Mills, home of the largest private timber producer from the late 1800's to the 1920's.
"It really helped to showcase an industry that is really important, not just to Dardanup, but the entire state," she said.
"We also had the festival favourite back again this year - the goat races and the canine connections.
"Of course, we also had the Wespine Fire Sculpture - which fantastic this year.
"It's just a great family event - you can come to the festival and enjoy a great day out without having to spend a lot of money."
The committee also added several afternoon activities to this year's program in a bid to keep people at the festival until 7.30pm, including the inaugural dog high jump and the Go Kart Race.
Already, Mrs Cross said the committee had received emails and messages with positive feedback.
The 2019 Livelighter Dardanup Bull & Barrel Festival committee extended thanks to its major sponsors Healthway and the Shire of Dardanup, as well as its platinum sponsor Doral, who has been supporting the event for 17 years.
Mrs Cross extended a special thanks to the community volunteers and said that the festival simply wouldn't be possible without them.
"We're a voluntary committee of 25 people, but there is no way we could do any of this unless we had the support of the broader Dardanup community," she said.
"It makes us feel very proud of where we live."
