A Sydney man has admitted threatening a magistrate the day he was arrested for allegedly threatening police while armed with a knife.
Blake Nicolas Pender, 28, was due to face trial on Wednesday in the NSW Supreme Court, but pleaded guilty to two charges related to his arrest in Sydney on June 14, 2017.
He admitted knowingly possessing a knife on or about that day in connection with the preparation for a terrorist act.
The indictment states the terrorist act involved advancing Islam by violence.
On the day of his arrest, Pender threatened to cause injury to magistrate Joanne Keogh when she refused to release him on bail in Central Local Court.
A statement of agreed facts are still not decided, the Supreme Court was told on Wednesday.
Police at the time of Pender's arrest said he'd allegedly approached officers in Surry Hills, made threats and then resisted arrest.
Pender will face a sentence hearing on November 28.
