BDCA, First Grade - Round Five: Marist secures 55-run win over Colts

Marist secured a bonus point with an incredible 55-run win over Colts at Forrest Park in Round Five.

After winning the toss, Blues' openers Brayden Clarke (57 runs) and Corey Fagan (59 off 65 balls, including nine fours) formed a sublime partnership.

Joe Barningham (2/20 from six overs) bowled Reece O'Connell for six, before Blaze Rosinski knocked two sixes on his way to 21.

Ben Clarke was dismissed by Josh Topliss (4/13 from 8.5) for 17, while Jordan Stynes (9) and captain Kyle Davis (1) struggled under pressure.

After a swift lower order collapse, the home side was all out for 186 after 47.5 overs.

Colts were stranded on 2/15, following the quick dismissals of opener Vikramjit Singh (4) and Tyler King (2).

Wicketkeeper Paul Jones was dismissed for one, before Brian Hughes was bowled by Daniel Lomax (3/20 from 9.1) for 12.

Middle order batsmen Riley Miguel (25), Cruize Ciallella (20), and Barningham (20) gave the visitors a much-needed boost.

Knocking two sixes and a four, Topliss went on to make 24 during his 40 minutes at the crease.

Ben Shipley (3/10 from three) assisted in dismissing Colts for 131.

Hay Park secured its first win of the season by the narrowest of margins on Saturday afternoon.

Eaton's Steven Barron (2/31 from 10) took down Redbacks' captain Jono Whitney (12) and fellow opener John Richardson (1).

Michael Tassone posted 43 (including two fours and three sixes), after Steven Florance reached 26.

Spending 92 minutes at the crease, Michael James hit an impressive 53 not out (including four sixes and two fours).

Troubled by Matthew Foreman (3/35 from 10) and Josh Grime (four catches), the Redbacks were all out for 169.

Eaton opener Cory Fitt was dismissed for a golden duck, before teammate Vincent Poller (13) was trapped lbw by Shaun Bulman (3/36 from 10).

James Hillery knocked 43, Foreman posted 31, and Steve Lazars made 26.

Richardson (5/29 from 10) later dispatched Clayton Caltsounis (3), Grime (1), and Clint Hewson (0) in quick succession.

Holding off a late surge from tailender Jamie Martin (32), Hay Park dismissed Eaton for 168 with five balls remaining.

Top of the table team Leschenault enjoyed a week off but will take to the field for round six.
