William Barrett and Sons funeral home and St Augustine Uniting Church will unite to host the 13th annual Christmas Remembrance Service on Wednesday, December 11.
The service is a way to remind those experiencing grief they are not alone.
Funeral Director Adrian Barrett said the service was open to anyone who wanted to remember a loved one in a safe and supportive environment.
"This service recognises that Christmas isn't necessarily joyous for everyone," he said.
"Feelings of grief, and isolation in that grief, can come to the surface and acknowledgement of that is important.
"When we deal with families throughout the year, we know the grief doesn't stop after the funeral, it is unpredictable and special occasions can often trigger a strong resurgence of grief and memories."
Reverend Greg Ross said he saw the annual service as a "gift" to the community.
"We recognise that Christmas can be incredibly tough for people and here we give them an outlet to come together, to see they are not alone in a safe space," he said.
"This service is special because we bring people together and have musical groups from the community and volunteers making that happen.
"The feedback we have received over the years has been overwhelmingly positive."
This year unique glass Christmas tree decorations were hand-made by volunteers from St Augustine's Uniting Church and William Barrett and Sons.
Each piece is unique and they are inspired by native WA wildflowers under the guidance of skilled artist Brenda Ellen from the Lava Art Glass Studio.
Attendees will each be given a decoration to take home and place on their tree.
A slideshow featuring photos of those who have died throughout the year will also be shown.
Photographs can be dropped in to William Barrett and Sons at 9 Spencer Street, Bunbury or emailed to info@barrettfunerals.com.au by Monday, December 9.
The service will begin at 7.30pm at St Augustine Uniting Church, 119 Mangles Street, Bunbury. A light supper will be served following.
