The South-West region has the potential to grow and expand exponentially over the next few years, according to the Nationals WA.
Earlier this month, Nationals WA Regional Cities spokesperson Ian Blayney and Warren-Blackwood MLA Terry Redman joined South-West MLC Colin Host for a tour of Bunbury and Busselton.
The group met with business and community leaders from both cities, including City of Bunbury and City of Busselton representatives.
Mr Blayney said the trip provided them with an even greater understanding of Bunbury and the South-West.
"Many people are now choosing to move to/live in regional centres such as Bunbury and Busselton," he said.
"Bunbury is a very attractive place. It's close to Perth and very well connected.
"For those reasons and more, we believe that Bunbury has the potential to significantly increase its population base over the next couple of years."
Earlier this year, the party developed a new Regional Cities portfolio designed to help 11 key centres, including Bunbury, Busselton, Broome, Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Northam, Esperance, and Geraldton.
Mr Blayney recently met with the Regional Capitals Alliance and Regional Cities Australia to discuss the links between local, state, and federal governments.
Mr Redman and Mr Holt said they would like to see the South-West achieve greater economic and social prosperity.
