Leaders in Bunbury and Busselton have celebrated the immense success of the 2020 National Seniors Tennis Championships.
Held from January 5 to 17, the tournament saw close to 1000 of Australia's best tennis players visit the two cities.
Teams from interstate and overseas competed in the Teams Carnival, held in Bunbury and Busselton in Week One.
In Week Two, the Busselton Tennis Centre played host to the Australian Seniors Championships - an ITF (Grade A) tournament with singles, doubles, and mixed doubles divisions.
The event featured players ranging from 35 years of age through to 80+.
Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan congratulated Bunbury and Busselton's tennis clubs for their efforts before, during, and after the championships.
"It was great for our local club and the city to be involved and support the City of Busselton with this high profile event," he said.
"It was good to see many of the participants walking through the CBD and surrounds exploring all that Bunbury has to offer over the championships.
"Event tourism is a great way to showcase Bunbury and the region and provides a significant boost to the local economy."
According to Mr Brennan, the City of Bunbury has committed close to $450,000 in grant funding to a range of events held within the current financial year.
