Race favourite Great Heist ($1.60) produced a blistering performance in the $20,000 MBL Food Services Maiden, at the Bunbury Turf Club.
Wednesday afternoon saw the brown gelding and 13 other entrants hit the track for the 1216-metre race.
Led by rider William Pike, Great Heist sat in third place past the 800m mark and the final turn.
In a thrilling finish, he crossed the line a short-neck ahead of Cornflower and half-a-length in front of Attila's Dream.
After the event, chestnut mare Miss Malibu suffered a laceration in the stall area.
Earlier in the day, Pike and Jason Pateman-trained Dew West ($6) led from start to finish in the 1116m Amelia Park Handicap.
Finishing in a time of 01:05:12, the bay filly beat out Solid Azza by 1.3 lengths and race favourite Wakan Tanka by 2.4 lengths.
Pike then led Burning Pride ($3.70) to victory in the final race of the day - the $25,000 Perkins Handicap (1705m).
The bay mare moved up to seventh midway through the race, before falling back to ninth.
She later recovered to finish 2.3 lengths ahead of San Crispino and Nice Go.
Race favourite He's A Gunslinger crossed the line in fourth place.
Rider Joseph Azzopardi and race favourite Brave Contender ($2.70) took out the 1705m TABTouch - Better Your Bet Maiden.
Leading from start to finish, the bay gelding crossed three-quarters-of-a-length ahead of Treasured Crown and Watto's Reward.
Rider Paul Harvey and Keiran Regan-trained Ava Express ($1.70, race favourite) prevailed in the $20,000 Westspeed Regional Showcase Maiden (1705m).
The brown gelding did enough to beat out Hot Tickety Boo and Husstarr.
Race favourite Excellent Dream ($2) dominated the $20,000 Furphy - Refreshing Ale Maiden (1016m).
Led by Jarrad Noske, the chestnut gelding went on to finish 2.6 lengths in front of Goodbyefeds and Rum Raker.
Azzopardi notched up his second win of the day in the 2238m LJ Hooker Bunbury Collie Handicap.
Moving up from fourth to first on the straight, he and Baffling ($5.50) narrowly edged out race favourite Arcadia King.
Celebrating the Australia Day long weekend, punters will return to the Bunbury Turf Club on Monday afternoon.
