A handful of Web, Digital Media, and Networking students from South Regional TAFE recently got the chance to showcase their skills on the national stage.
More than 241 teams and 1000 students from around Australia and New Zealand participated in last year's GovHack competitions.
GovHack, a government-supported international initiative, encourages students to share and analyse data in creative ways.
After completing their tasks, the South-West students were commended for their hard work and ingenuity.
South Regional TAFE student group Wenergy WA received honourable mentions at the state and national levels, while local participants The Henderson Family won at the state level.
TAFE Western Australia was pleased to receive the Best State/Territory Government Participation award.
The participants were all formally acknowledged at the national GovHack awards in Canberra.
Wenergy WA team member Shane Cross and SW Hackers team leader Harry Cox said they enjoyed competing against representatives from major companies, including Amazon and InfoSys.
"All of the teams were able to hand in their projects on time, which was excellent," Mr Cross said.
"South Regional TAFE has provided us [the students] with some enormous benefits. We have access to some great lecturers, and we're all really eager to learn."
South Regional TAFE is planning to participate in GovHack 2020.
