Bunbury-based construction company Perkins Builders has been given the opportunity to work on another exciting local project.
Last week, the business was awarded the contract for the design and construction of the Kemerton Lithium Plant's Non Process Infrastructure Buildings.
The move was supported by Albemarle Lithium Pty Ltd. and Wood (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management).
According to Perkins Builders, Albemarle will be investing more than US$1 billion into the Kemerton Lithium project.
The project will deliver a range of facilities incorporating operational and corporate areas.
A separate building will incorporate workshop, engineering maintenance, parts storage, fuel storage, and wash down facilities.
Perkins, Albemarle, and Wood worked together to "meet the project deliverables of local content, commercial compliance, and health, safety, and environment compliance".
The design process is scheduled to begin in early 2020, with some critical elements to be delivered to EPCM later this year. Other components are due for completion by mid 2021.
Speaking to the Mail last week, Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan and Bunbury MLA Don Punch said the plant would greatly benefit the local workforce and the economy.
"The advanced manufacturing projects that we are seeing in Bunbury are extraordinary," Ms MacTiernan said.
"Bunbury has been able develop a very strong construction and mining services industry."
