BDCA, Round 11: Hay Park picks up one-wicket win over Colts

Hay Park kept themselves in contention with a one-wicket win over Colts in Round 11 of the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association's First Grade competition.

Returning to the Bunbury Recreation Ground, Colts won the toss and elected to bat first.

Opener Vikramjit Singh notched up 48 runs in 138 minutes, before being trapped lbw by Jonathan Calver (5/18 from 6.2 overs).

Brian Hughes and Murray Goodwin were dismissed for ducks, while Paul Jones made 14 off 48 balls.

Knocking 27 off 35 (including two fours), captain Cruize Ciallella saved the home side from embarrassment.

After late spells from tailenders Ethan Kelly and Josh Topliss (both 16), the reigning premiers were dismissed for 139.

Redbacks' openers Jono Whitney (8) and Steven Florance (0) were scalped in quick succession, before Michael Tassone impressed with the bat.

The middle order star cruised to 45 not out off 102 (including three fours).

Continuing his red-hot form, Calver hit a blistering half-century (including three fours and one six) off 85.

In a surprise result, Hay Park reached Colts' total in 47.2 overs.

Captain Thomas Buchanan guided Leschenault to a stellar three-wicket win over Eaton on Saturday afternoon.

Enjoying a home ground advantage, Eaton openers Matthew Foreman (37) and Billy Boucher (15) excelled early on.

Teammates Johnathon Miller (48no off 71) and James Hillery (35, including four fours) later teamed up to wreak havoc upon the league leaders.

Following two late wickets, the Beavers posted 7/199 from their 50 overs.

Leschenault was stranded on 3/33, following the dismissals of Kurt D'Agostino (15), Justin Woods (12), and Matt Fink (3).

Buchanan upped the ante - knocking a sublime six fours and four sixes on his way to 94 off 85.

Assisted by James Letchford (26no off 34), the Green Caps reached Eaton's total with one over to spare.

Leschenault, Colts, Hay Park, and Marist will return to the field for Round 12 this weekend.
