SWAS All-Stars clashed with Reds Hockey Clubs' Women's side on February 22

Some of the South-West's best hockey players went up against one of Perth's biggest clubs at the Bunbury Hockey Stadium, on February 22.

The South West Academy of Sport's current crop of female players teamed up with a handful of state, national, and international-calibre athletes - including Shayni Nelson, Candyce Peacock, Kobie McGurk, Shelly Liddelow, and Chantelle Ciallella.

The 'SWAS All-Stars' team put up a brave fight against Reds Hockey Club's Women's side.

The All-Stars' line-up also included current SWAS coach, and Hockeyroos assistant coach, Nicole Arrold.

SWAS assistant coach Keith Old said the pre-season clash provided the younger athletes with plenty of experience and motivation.

He said the academy's female and male hockey players were all feeling confident going into the new season.

Earlier in the day, Boyanup Hockey Club's A1 Men's side faced stiff competition against Reds' men's team.

As part of their trip to Bunbury, Reds' men's and women's coaches hosted a junior clinic for aspiring local players on Saturday morning.

Old would like to thank South-West Strikers coach Lawrie Tyler and Boyanup HC for supporting last weekend's events.
