A sluggish first half saw Perth Glory's women's side end its 2019/2020 Westfield W-League season campaign on a sour note.
Last week, South-West soccer fans rejoiced as the Glory's contingent of players and coaches made their return to Bunbury.
Back in January 2018, a 1369-strong crowd travelled to Hay Park to watch the Glory - led by Sam Kerr, at the time - drew 4-4 with Canberra United.
Contending with a strong breeze, the Glory and Western Sydney Wanderers hit the field at WML Stadium on Saturday evening.
Throughout the first half, Perth struggled to maintain possession and create chances up forward.
The Wanderers went 1-nil up in the third minute, when a shot from defender Sam Staab found a gap in the Glory's defence.
Silencing the Glory's fan-base, striker Kristen Hamilton netted the Wanderers' second goal in the 10th minute.
Leading up to half time, the visitors continued to move the ball quickly and cleanly around the ground.
A solid effort from Perth striker Celia Jiménez bounced off the post, midway through the half.
Capitalising on a free kick, Hamilton extended the visitors' lead with a sublime header in the 28th minute.
Coming off a lacklustre first half, the Glory were determined to bounce back in the second.
The crowd breathed a heavy sigh of relief in the 63rd minute, when Jiménez scored Perth's first goal with a cracking shot.
Trailing by two, the home side began to communicate effectively and deliver more shots on target.
Morgan Andrews slotted the Glory's second goal in the 83rd minute, with a spectacular header from a neat cross.
At the end of extra time, the Wanderers were left to celebrate a hard-fought 3-2 win.
The Wanderers notched up 20 shots and eight shots on target, compared to the Glory's 14 and four.
Perth defender Jamie-Lee Gale, Western Sydney midfielder Susan Phonsongkham, and Wanderers' striker Cortnee Vine were each given yellow cards.
Despite the end result, Glory defender Natasha Rigby said she and her teammates all greatly enjoyed their trip to Bunbury.
"I'm so proud of the girls...they all fought really hard in the second half," she said.
"I love the South-West and the people down here - they're all so grounded and down-to-earth.
"It is such an honour to come down here and play in front of all these people."
Saturday's result saw the Glory finish seventh on the ladder with three wins, two draws, and seven losses.
