In just the past few weeks, the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak has brought Western Australia's arts and entertainment sector to its knees.
Former Bunbury musician and current Perth student Mitchell Martin has already missed out on several big opportunities, including gigs, weddings, and music festivals.
Martin's latest single launch (for Be Myself) has been postponed to later in the year.
"My band and I were supposed to be playing on the main stage at the Mandurah Crab Fest, at the Autumn River Festival in Perth, and at WoW Fest in Geraldton," he said.
"I'm pretty much out of work for the next few months or until this all settles down - it feels like we've come to a bit of a standstill.
"We've just released a new single, and now we can't launch it until everything goes back to normal.
"Pretty much everyone involved in live music has taken a massive hit. Most of us are out of work now."
Martin is encouraging the public to support their favourite musicians by downloading/streaming songs and buying merchandise.
Adhering to new restrictions from the Federal Government, the state's pubs, clubs, and music venues have shut their doors.
Among those is Bunbury's Prince of Wales Hotel, known for hosting some of Australia's best touring solo artists, bands, and comedians.
In a statement on social media, the pub's owners gave thanks to the performers, punters, staff, and wider community.
"We want to take this time to thank you all for your support over the years - the pints raised, the crowds surfed, and the meals shared," the statement said.
"We're sure this won't be the end of The Prince, but in this uncertain time we have made the hard decision to close our doors."
For the first time in its 29-year history, the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre has shut up shop until further notice.
With all upcoming shows now cancelled, BREC staff will be contacting ticketholders to discuss refund options.
"Creative industries around Australia and the world have seen an immediate impact," BREC executive director Fiona de Garis said.
"We're now in the process of re-doing our budgets and looking at financial models. We want to come out the other side of this as a fully functioning organisation.
"We're also asking people with tickets for shows to be patient - we will get in touch with you regarding your options.
"I'm hoping that the community will continue to support BREC and artists in the South-West."
