Collie Power met with Dalyellup on Sunday as the two heavy-weights played out matches that would go a long way in deciding the title.
The Collie Power Women's team were met with stiff resistance from Dalyellup.
The usually agile Kirsten Thomson was deftly kept under wraps by a stoic defence, and Collie's French import, Tahya Magill, despite her efforts, could not manage a shot on target.
Dalyellup, hosting a plethora of young players, applied pressure and were two goals ahead by half time. Stirring words from coach, Jeff Allen, motivated the girls at half-time, and Bonny Berridge halved the deficit shortly after producing a silky slalom run and a cool finish into the side netting.
Unfortunately, Dalyellup's quality proved too much, and late in the game, they scored another two goals to finish the game 4-1.
The men's team faced a strong Dalyellup team reinforced by a few key first division players.
The game was evenly matched and both sides went into the sheds at half-time knowing the second half would be critical to their title hopes.
Soon after the restart, a mistake by the Dalyellup defence gifted Maltese striker, Mark Van Dyke, with an easy goal.
This seemed to lift the games intensity and Dalyellup responded with a slick passing move resulting in an equaliser at the back post.
Dalyellup pushed again and were rewarded with another headed goal, before a calamitous mix-up handed them a third.
Late in the game, Ryan 'Legs 11' Walker headed neatly into the corner for Collie Power, meaning the game finished in a tight affair: 3-2. Dalyellup strengthen their position on top of the table, with Collie Power dropping to fifth.
Both teams travel to Australind next week and, as the season enters the midway point, both teams are looking for strong performances to move up the table.
