Busselton actress Tully Jones is bringing her brand new show As You Like Hamlet, supported by Bare Naked Theatre, to this year's LiveLighter Busselton Fringe Festival.
Ms Jones wrote the show, which is a mashup of Shakespeare's As You Like It and Hamlet, combining the tragedy and comedy into one play.
"The play flicks between each script and becomes muddled towards the end," she said.
"At the end (spoiler alert) everyone has died in Hamlet the As You Like It crew come out and say their final piece.
"It ends in a bit of a who said what."
Ms Jones has modernised the show with characters cutting off other characters to speak in modern English, at moments when Shakespearean language could be difficult to understand.
"Our aim is to make the play really approachable and easy to watch," she said.
The Busselton performances will be the second time the play has been performed in front of live audiences, with the cast getting ready to perform the show for the first time at the Perth Fringe Festival.
"It is so much fun the cast have all created a really nice bond, it is really fun to watch and see the chemistry develop between them," Ms Jones said.
This year's fringe festival runs each weekend from February 5 to 27, with 30 different shows scheduled at venues across Busselton.
The event kicks off with an official opening night at the Art Geo Complex which will have market and food stalls with free live music, entertainment and will finish with the Dangerous Delights Fire Show.
As You Like Hamlet will be performed at the New Court Room in the Art Geo Complex on February 12 and 13. Tickets to the event are available on the Busselton Fringe website busseltonfringe.com.au/product-page/as-you-like-hamlet.
